April Update

The 6th Annual Annie D. Jones Child Enrichment Fun 3k Walk fundraiser event was held April 30, at Smithfield Community Park. 27 participates walked for the cause on the Greenway trail. 14 volunteers were present to assist with set up, registration, photography and moral support. A special thank you to Gary Johnson, Director of Smithfield Parks and Recreation, Deborah Altman, Marilyn Brown Everette, Brenda Lynn and Stephanie White for your early morning assistance. And my sincere gratitude to Mitchener Memorial Baptist Church for the use of the van to transport walkers.
The walk began with a prayer by Deacon Ralph Edwards and a salute to our root and namesake, the late Mrs. Annie Lou Dublin Jones.
$2,466.00 was raised to fund scholarships for underprivileged children to participate in recreational and cultural activities provided by SRAC, Smithfield Parks and Recreation, Morgan's Gymnastics, Artistry In Motion, Johnston Health Quest, Neuse Litle Theatre's Summer Drama Program, and Mary Ann Morgan Warren, piano instructor. Thank you to our contributors for your support!
In the month of April, 1 scholarship was given to attend Spring Break Soccer Camp, 2 for Spring Break Art Camp, 2 for Mother Son Dance and 4 scholarships to attend SRAC Summer Camp.
It's not too late to register for summer camp! Scholarships are available for age 6-8 who live in the Smithfield community. Visit our Contact page to send us a message for more details.
