The Annie D. Jones Child Enrichment Fund nonprofit organization is alive and well!
The month of April brought heavy rain and flooding to the town of Smithfield, NC, BUT GOD also showered us with HIS abundant blessings. 35 scholarships were presented and 2 successful fundraisers occurred; an online Tshirt fundraiser and The 2nd Annual Annie D. Jones Child Enrichment Fund 3K Walk, held in the Smithfield Community Park.
3 children were offered baseball/Tball scholarships to play on teams sponsored by Smithfield Parks and Recreation. 16 scholarships were given to participate in 2 summer camps; Kidz @ Play and Artzy Kidz sponsored by Smithfield Parks and Recreation to be held in Smith Collins Park. 12 scholarship recipients will participate in two weeks of SRAC's summer camp; an all day camp. 1 special scholarship was presented for private piano lessons, taught by Kerry Clayton of First Baptist Church (check out video footage here). And, 3 children received scholarships to attend The Neuse Little Theatre's Summer Drama Program.
The 2nd Annual Annie D. Jones Child Enrichment Fund 3K Walk was held on Saturday, April 29. Due to flooding of The Neuse River Green Way nature trail, the walk was held in Smithfield Community Park. 22 participates walked the path to raise funds to benefit children in the East Smithfield community to participate in recreational and cultural activities. 12 volunteers assisted with set-up and take-down of the beautiful balloon decorations created by Lakesia Stancil, Event Decorator of Creative Image. A special "Thanks" to Julia Burton for her contribution of light refreshments and bottled water.
